QUALITY

OUR COMMITMENT

High quality and guaranteed traceability are the winning combination with which Eural Gnutti ensures excellent production standards throughout the supply chain. Every stage of the process, from the careful selection of raw materials to the delivery of the semi-finished product, is subject to rigorous and systematic checks, carried out at the two plants in Rovato and Pontevico.

Quality is not just a result, but the guiding principle that drives the entire organisation, thanks to advanced monitoring systems, qualified personnel and a corporate culture based on precision and responsibility. This is complemented by complete traceability of materials and processes, which ensures reliability, production continuity and compliance with the highest standards required by the industrial sector.

MACHINING TRIALS

Expertise at the service of the customer

Machining Trials are a high value-added service through which Eural transforms its metallurgical expertise into concrete and measurable technical support. This activity, integrated into the continuous innovation process, not only allows the development of increasingly high-performance aluminium alloys, but also enables the direct evaluation of their machinability according to their intended use.

Conducted by the Quality department in collaboration with the Sales team, these technical tests allow us to analyse chip formation, optimise machining parameters based on the tools and lubricants used, and improve the efficiency of the entire production process. Our in-depth knowledge of the behaviour of alloys translates into comprehensive and personalised assistance, which strengthens Eural's role as a technical partner.

QUALITY AND TRACEABILITY

High quality, guaranteed traceability:
a winning combination

Pontevico

In the foundry, quality and traceability begin with the analysis and selection of raw materials of various shapes, from primary aluminium to scrap. All materials are checked upon arrival using a radiometric system to rule out radioactive contamination. This is followed by a visual inspection and detailed chemical analysis to classify the type of material. Before starting the casting process, several stages are carried out, including: preparation, with the raw materials and scrap being placed in the melting furnace, alloying aimed at obtaining narrow analytical ranges for each chemical element characteristic of 'made by EURAL' alloys.

During the casting phase, the parameters necessary for solidification are continuously monitored in order to obtain a homogeneous crystalline structure. Subsequently, each billet is subjected to an ultrasonic inspection to ensure the absence of internal discontinuities, cracks, inclusions or voids, in accordance with the 'A' class requirements of SAE AMS-STD-2154 (Type I), a technical standard developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for the evaluation and quality control of metallic materials used in the aerospace and automotive industries.

In addition, a macrographic examination is performed on each casting: a slice of the billet is chemically etched to reveal the distribution of the crystalline structure. The guarantee of a homogeneous structure with a regular distribution of crystalline grains prevents the onset of machinability problems at the Rovato plant. Finally, both castings and billets are identified with a unique code for batch traceability, bill of materials and weighing.

QUALITY AND TRACEABILITY

Rovato

At the Rovato production site, product compliance checks and verifications are carried out by the Quality department in accordance with internal standards, reference regulations and specific customer requirements. In detail, the following tests are routinely performed for each production batch:

  • Thermal conductivity tests on each piece, in order to comply with standard requirements and verify the uniformity of the production batch
  • Tensile and hardness tests in accordance with international standards
  • Crash test e test di scattivatura per profili porthole su ogni colpo di estrusione, per verificarne l’integrità strutturale e la resistenza meccanica secondo standard interni di riferimento definiti da Eural
  • Chemical analysis tests on the product, in accordance with international standards
  • Macrographic testing to verify and classify the structure and its uniformity to internal standards, defined by the company or based on specific customer requirements
  • Machinability tests to verify the level of machinability of the material in accordance with the internal classification defined by Eural based on its decades of experience
  • Roughness tests for profiles

The Quality department in Rovato is equipped with latest-generation optical microscopes that allow micrographic checks of the grain structure and specific analyses requested by the customer. As regards dimensional checks, the department is also equipped with two optical machines for determining and verifying the conformity of extruded profiles with complex designs.

The equipment is completed by a machine that performs tensile tests at room temperature and at high temperatures to meet specific customer requirements or to characterise behaviour of aluminium alloys when hot.

Depending on the request and/or relevant regulations, the Quality department in Rovato also carries out ultrasonic testing, performed by qualified operators, in accordance with international standards for extruded and drawn bars.

The traceability of samples belonging to each production batch is guaranteed by the marking of each individual sample and by a paper record that tracks its path from collection to testing. The test results are entered into the internal database, which allows summary reports to be issued detailing the batch's production and related tests/inspections. The information required to issue product certificates in accordance with the international standard EN10204 is extracted from these reports.
